Edoardo Rosso

Project Officer, South Australia

Edoardo is a passionate football scholar, coach, player (ex!), fan and, above all, lover. He was born and raised in Turin (Italy), and he moved to Australia when he was 21. Besides Italy, he lived, worked and studied in Spain, Sydney, the Northern Territory and, since 2003, Adelaide. Here, he completed a PhD in social geography in 2010. His research interests include: social capital, spatial inequality, sport geography, identities and sport, sporting communities and generally social aspects of sports. His academic work concentrated mostly on the relationship between social resources and football in Australia, and he has a keen interest in women's football in particular. He is an active member of the local football community and he coached South Australian women's football teams for many years. In 2011, with the support of UniSA, he 'exported' Football United to South Australia, with the firm belief that football can make a real difference in the lives of people and our communities.
