How and when did you first hear about Football United?

I have been involved with FU since August 2010. One of my old lecturers is friends with Anne and recommended I contact her when I moved back to Sydney (I was living in Geelong at the time).

What do you do?

I work casually at a gourmet take away pizza shop and as an Emergency Services Operator. I'm currently completing a Master of International and Community Development.

What is your current role with Football United?

I volunteer in the office with Tun and Assmaah most Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as helping out on gala and event days. I've also been involved with the girls' school holiday camp which was great fun!

What opportunities has Football United provided to you?

Meeting a bunch of wonderful people! Every time I leave a Football United event I am just floating, so inspired and proud of what I have just seen, heard, or had the privilege to be involved in.

What is your favourite memories of your involvement with Football United?

The "Passport for Hope" documentary premiere, the Girls' School Camp, 'chaperoning' at a Sydney FC v Adelaide game (in the pouring rain!!)..anything with the kids and their families, that's always the most fun!

How do you think Football Uniteed benefits the participants and the community?

FU provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to meet new people and engage with each other in an environment that highlights and emphasises their strengths, rather than their weaknesses, and encourages them to build upon these. It provides a safe place for participants and their families to create new social networks and 'find a place' so to speak within the broader community.

And to conclude...

FU is a fantastic program built around great concepts and carried by wonderful people, I am so proud to be a part of it and can't wait to see what the future brings..FU is destined for greatness I think!
